Chocoholics have been given further reason to rejoice when a small clinical study showed that dark chocolate improves the function of blood vessels.

While the researchers cautioned against bingeing on bon bons, they said the findings of the trial were clear and called for larger such studies to confirm the results.

Unforeseen by the researchers was the opposition by prominent black leaders to the term, ‘dark chocolate’.

Al Sharpton called it ‘another racial slur’. ” There is a subtle bigoted message in the statement, ‘ dark chocolate improves the function of blood vessels.'” he said, “You can detect the secret message in the euphemism, It implies that African-American men can arouse women.”

The Reverend Jesse Jackson was even more indignant. ” It is easy to see the bigotry in the term ‘ dark chocolate’ which is just a synonym for the n-word. ‘Dark’ is what I object to, Why isn’t white chocolate mentioned? Who did this research, the Ku Klux Klan?

Researchers at John Hopkins were quick to apologize. ” We certainly didn’t consider that our study would cause racial friction. We are immediately deleting all reference to ‘dark chocolate’ . The terminology, ‘dark chocolate’ will be replaced by what we are certain will be more acceptable:… ‘the product produced from the seeds of the tree Theobroma cacao.’

Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court’s only black justice said he was glad the matter was amicably settled before it became a controversial issue that the Supreme Court would have to consider. ” It would have been a difficult decision for me to make, as many blacks consider me an Oreo.”
