Occasionally a reader asks us a question, which, if difficult to answer, we refer to our guru consultant, Dr. Hiram Sawtooth, who invariably comes up with an answer.
Hiru Hansei of Tokyo, Japan wants to know where all the smileys we see on the internet come from.
We gave his question to Dr. Sawtooth:

” Although smileys are widespread thoughout the internet, Hiru,
we were surprised that they all come from only one source; the Silver Dragon Smiley Company in Kunhu, a remote town in western China. Although the chief engineer of Silver Dragon invited us to visit the plant, he cautioned that strict security prohibited photographing the process. Fortunately one of our crew managed to secretly videotape the assembly line on his cellphone camera. After viewing his tape, we can see why photos were banned!”
