McCain Gaffe: "Threat to U.S. linked to Hummus"

(Straight Talk Express) Ucs News–U.S. Senator John McCain said the threat to Americans worldwide is linked to the terrorist group “Hummus”. Once again Arizona’s preeminent foreign policy expert was rescued by Independent Senator Joe Lieberman. Lieberman informed Senator McCain that “Hamas” is a Palestinian Sunni Islamist militant organization, while “Hummus” is a dietary staple of the Middle East.

When McCain made his foreign policy “mistake” on Friday, it was Sen. Lieberman who quietly pointed out the mistake, giving McCain an opportunity to correct himself in front of the Int’l. press corps.

McCain, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, even stressed that the U.S. should not leave Iraq quickly because it would invite increased influence of “hummus”. Lucky for McCain he was once again seated next to Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. Just as in Israel last month Lieberman quickly corrected McCain, however the gaffe was caught on tape and released to youtube within the hour.

Hummus (also spelled hamos, houmous, hommos, hommus, hummos, hummous or humus) is a dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas, blended with tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Hummus has been a dietary staple in various local forms throughout the Middle Eastern world for thousands of years.

Hamas (حركة حماس; acronym: حركة المقاومة الاسلامية, or Harakat al-Muqawama al-Islamiyya or “Islamic Resistance Movement” is a Palestinian Sunni Islamist militant organization and political party. It currently holds a majority of seats in the legislative council of the Palestinian Authority.
