WASHINGTON (UCS News) With Iraq disintegrating and Afghanistan falling back into the hands of the Taliban The Bush administration just can’t pull free from the Jack Abramoff scandal. According to documents released Wednesday, Republican activists closely associated with Abramoff totaled more than 100 visits to the Bush White House between 2001 and 2006.
The Abramoff business partners, Grover Norquist and Ralph Reed admit they made many visits to the White House to coordinate the illegal activities of Karl Rove and the President. Norquist facilitated several administration contacts for Abramoff’s clients while the lobbyist simultaneously solicited those clients for large donations to Norquist’s group. Ralph Reed visits were simply to update Karl Rove on the ongoing Republican money laundering operations.
White House cleaners complained that Reed and Norquist often failed to wipe their feet before entering teh White House and made a habit of stealing the mints from the Oval office waiting room. Speaking off the record one of the janitors remarked “That Grover Norquist guy never flushed the toilet.” Others on the staff stated the pair were “….often drunk and in the company of young boys.”
Insiders claim the Bush Administration welcomes the new allegations of influence peddling and corruption. GOP strategists are happy to brush aside the “blatantly partisan'” legal complications of Karl Rove and Jack Abramoff. In the Presidents own words “It’s the body bags from Iraq that hurt our chances in November”.
