(Dutch Harbor , Ucs News ) The Discovery channel producer Thom Beers is reporting a celebrity guest appearance on his show Deadliest Catch may have gone tragically wrong. According to Beers, Paul Teutul Sr. and his sons, Paul Jr. & Mikey, were sharing the deck of the 187 foot long crab boat Alaskan Star when a massive ice storm slashed the Bering Sea.
Coast Guard radar operators lost contact with the Alaskan Star as the ship neared an ice flow in rough seas. According to reports from the area 159 miles northwest of ST.Paul island the seas were cresting at 75ft. Farwest Leader captain Greg Moncrief briefly search for evidence of the Alaskan Star but was forced to leave the area due to rough seas. “I was tough out there, I hope they are okay. I love Orange County Choppers I would hate for anything bad to happen.”
According to the Discovery channel the Teutul’s were in Alaska filming the season 4 primer episode of the Deadliest Catch. Beers stated that aboard the Alaskan Star Paul Sr. was acting captain while Paul Jr. was stationed on deck. The always put upon Mikey Teutul had taken the position as green horn and bait boy.
Deadliest Catch show host and narrator Mike Rowe has taken a leave of absence from filming Dirty Jobs to join the search for the Alaskan Star and the Teutul’s. “The drama makes great TV but Thom will never forgive me if his two best programs are sunk in one storm.”
