(Washington D.C.) Unconfirmed sources are reporting an unprecedented spike in the sales of rose colored glasses today. Supplies of rose colored glasses are at dangerously low levels as Republicans nationwide assess the presidency of Ronald Reagan on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
“I’ve never seen anything like it,” Says eye wear retailer Cornelius Johnson. “People have been flooding in all day long. We got cleaned out by 9:30 this morning and people are still asking if we have any. The phone is ringing off the hook. I made a panicked call to my local distributor and he said the story was the same nationwide.”
Scattered reports of price gauging and hording have not damped the demand for the glasses.
Industry watchers believe it could take months of round the clock production to rebuild stocks of the rosy spectacles.
