Toyota Troubles: class action lawsuit prompts Prius Recall

(Washington, Ucs News) Toyota Motors announced today it would be recalling the entire fleet of nearly 300,000 Prius model cars. The worldwide recall is the result of a class action lawsuit launched by disgruntled Prius owners. According to the lawsuit filed in Washington D.C., Prius owners were shocked to discover the car runs only on gas.

A National Highway Transportation Agency investigation into the Toyota Prius confirmed the so called Hybrid electric car runs only on gasoline. The affected cars are from 2004 to 2007. Toyota calls it a Voluntary Special Service Campaign.

The problem stems from a marketing error that caused drivers to believe the car was actually an electric car.

Officials from the National Highway Transportation Agency stated the Prius is in fact an “electric” car that runs on gas. Only in America.
