The day after Robin Bush died of leukemia at the age of three, George H.
W. Bush and Barbara Bush played a round of golf. There was no funeral
for Robin Bush and she was buried in New York--not transported back to
Texas where the Bush's lived at the time.<P>

Then seven year old George W. Bush didn't even know that his sister was
sick until after she had died. George W. was not allowed to grieve
for his sister. Those who cannot grieve, cannot feel compassion.
The compassion that George W. Bush pretends to feel and show is
rehearsed and acted.<P>

The only true friend that George W. Bush has is Karl Rove. Karl Rove
experienced a very similar childhood background emotionally. The person
Karl Rove called his father turned out not to be his father. And his

Mr Muse - if you choose to bring up a story that has nothing to do with the subject story - at least have the decency to relate the parts of the story that don't serve your personal agenda. Trying to make a political point on the back of someone's personal tragedy is, quite frankly, disgusting! I find it interesting that you didn't mention that President Obama didn't attend the funeral of his grandmother who raised him - things that make you go 'hmmmmm'...

When 'Robin' was diagnosed, the doctor in Midland, Texas told the Bush's to keep her comfortable and let her slip quietly away. This was in 1953 and it was pretty much a death sentence as advances had not yet been achieved in treating childhood leukemia. The Bush's did not do so, but rather took her to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York City (well known for its cancer research if you're not aware) and stayed in NYC until she passed away, with both parents at her side, about 7 months later. Her body was first given to research in the hope that research would help to find a cure for other children - an act I personally find selfless as opposed to your insinuations. In fact, in 2004, in recognition of the lifetime of work that George and Barbara Bush have dedicated to raising awareness and money for cancer research, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston opened The Robin Bush Child and Adolescent Clinic - a surprise to the Bush's.

In any event, no funeral was held at the time that their daughter's body was being studied. Why they golfed I cannot answer - perhaps it was a way to divert their attention from their loss for a few hours. I've lost three brothers -- two as toddlers and one at age 29. My dad showed up at the second one's funeral drunk because he wasn't able to face it -- maybe you think that's a better way to handle it!

Eventually 'Robin' was laid to rest in her grandfather's family plot in Greenwich, CT. In 2000 her remains were moved to a cemetery on the Texas A&M campus where the Presidential Library is located. This is the future final resting place of President George H.W.Bush and Former First lady Barbara Bush.

'Robin' was named for Mrs. Bush's mother who was killed in a car accident in New York 3 months before 'Robin' was born. I don't know (nor do you) the circumstances of the pregnancy, but at 6 months, it probably would not have been very advisable nor comfortable to travel from California to New York at that time to attend the funeral. I suspect that although mother and daughter were reportedly not very close, there may have also been some animosity toward her father who lost control of the car and caused the accident that killed her mother... perhaps she didn't want to see him at that point either.

Bottom line - it is not that 'Robin' was not loved or cherished as you would have one believe solely to cast dispersions upon someone you don't care for yet feel a need to publicly judge. Shame on you... America - I give you your problem!
